This 3 minute video shows how paraplegics, over a long and consistent period of time, are able to use neuroscience and virtual software to train their brains to gain some movement in their legs and control of their bladder and bowel. Over this 7 minute video you see the progress of Andy, a young Australian with CP to the degree that his personal trainer Lee describes him as having around 20 % physical function. Using neuroplastic principles consistently and sheer determination, Andy's body function improved to 70%. WEBSITE - John Medina is a molecular biologist and research consultant whose book, 'Brain Rules' is an easy read and helps explain the connection between the body, the emotions, the spirit and how they all can affect the capacity for learning. WEBSITE - Dr Caroline Leaf, author and neuroscientist has a variety of books and materials to explain the power we have to change our mind set and our habits, including emotional reactions and anxieties. WEBSITE -The Hawn Foundation has established a school program to assist children in becoming mindful of their thoughts, feelings and therefore their actions. It has been highly successful across the US, Canada and the UK. Don't dismiss this simply because it is Goldie Hawn's pet project (like I did initially)! She has gathered together brilliant scientists and educators and the foundation and their resources are well worth a look; as is her book, '10 Mindful Minutes'.
